Come With Us To The Premiere of Minions The Rise Of Gru

We had a groovy Saturday in LA at the premiere of Minions The Rise Of Gru. We are HUGE Minions fans in this house. We have seen all the movies multiple times and love them all. Minions The Rise Of Gru will have you smiling, laughing, dancing to the soulful 70's music and have you leaving the theater wanting a real minion of your own counting down until the next Minion movie is released (I found out they are already planning more movies in the next couple of years). Minions The Rise Of Gru was first set to release in summer 2020, so we have been waiting for this movie for a couple years, and believe me the wait was well worth it. This movie will take you back in time to Gru's childhood (in the 1970's) when he first meets the Minions. It serves as a prequel for the Despicable Me movies in several ways. Come check out all the fun we had at the premiere and our review on the movie.

In the heart of the 1970s, amid a flurry of feathered hair and flared jeans, Gru (Oscar® nominee Steve Carell) is growing up in the suburbs. A fanboy of a supervillain supergroup known as the Vicious 6, Gru hatches a plan to become evil enough to join them. Luckily, he gets some mayhem-making backup from his loyal followers, the Minions. Together, Kevin, Stuart, Bob, and Otto (a new Minion sporting braces and a desperate need to please) deploy their skills as they and Gru build their first lair, experiment with their first weapons and pull off their first missions. When the Vicious 6 oust their leader, legendary fighter Wild Knuckles (Oscar® winner Alan Arkin), Gru interviews to become their newest member. It doesn't go well (to say the least), and only gets worse after Gru outsmarts them and suddenly finds himself the mortal enemy of the apex of evil. On the run, Gru will turn to an unlikely source for guidance, Wild Knuckles himself, and discover that even bad guys need a little help from their friends.  The movie is rated PG and it's 1 hour and 27 minutes long (which I LOVE, since it's my opinion that animation movies for kids should only be about an hour and half long).

We loved the movie from beginning to end.  The kids were engaged the entire time and it had many laugh out loud funny and sing along moments.  I even caught the kids dancing a couple of times in their seats.  We talked the entire way home about our favorite scenes and our favorite Minions.  This movie is a must see.  It will be in theaters this Friday, July 1 just in time for the holiday weekend.  So when you are looking for a place to cool off for about an hour and half and some quiet time for the kids, take them to see Minions The Rise Of Gru.  The entire family will love it.  Kids will love it because it's the Minions and they are just lovable and silly and adults will love the humor and the 1970's music and vibe!

As soon as you enter Hollywood you are greeted with Minions The Rise Of Gru posters everywhere.  We loved it!

The kids were so excited to meet Xochitel Gomez.  She was so nice.  You guys know how much we love Marvel movies so meeting her was awesome!

In the theater every chair had a different Minion shirt to take home!

After the movie it was time to head to the after party!

The food and drinks at the party were fantastic!  There was a pancake & waffle station, pastry station, popcorn, cotton candy, nachos, hotdogs, candy, ice cream and more!

Tori Spelling

The kids loved all the arcade games!

There was even a salon where you could get your hair styled!!

Kung Fu Training was so much fun

You could adopt a pet rock and decorate it.  When you see the movie you will understand about the pet rocks.

They had dancers, performers and people on stilts!

Minions The Rise Of Gru is now in theaters.  So let's make chocolate covered bananas!  You need bananas, chocolate wafers, popsicle sticks, and sprinkles.  Just cut your bananas in half, add a popsicle stick to the end of the banana, melt the wafers, coat your bananas in the chocolate, add sprinkles and put them in the freezer and enjoy!

See Minions The Rise Of Gru this Friday July 1st!
