Paper Mario The Origami King Review

Thank you Nintendo for sending Paper Mario The Origami King.

If you have a Nintendo fan in your household, I am sure you have heard about the new game Paper Mario The Oragami King for Nintendo Switch. The trailer was released in May and the game was released today. My son has been counting down the days for this game like it's Christmas morning. In this household Nintendo Switch and Super Mario Bros are everything to my 8 year old. You can see the post here about his Super Mario Bros bedroom and his Super Mario Bros birthday party here. He has also been both Mario and Luigi for Halloween.  This new game is full of charm and fun vibrant colors. Players will spend hours finding toads, engaging in battles, and there is so much to do and see, so I am sharing all of it with you.

Here is my little Mario in full costume ready to play Paper Mario The Oragami King for the first time today!

In Paper Mario The Origami King Mario faces one of his most thrilling challenges yet when the dangerous King Olly unleashes his plan to fold the entire world.  Just when things couldn’t get worse, he’s bound Princess Peach’s Castle in giant, colored streamers and transported it to a distant mountain. He’s even transformed Bowser’s minions into Folded Soldiers and enlisted them in his treacherous cause.  Mario and various companions will be traveling throughout the Mushroom Kingdom while trying to take it back from the invading origami forces.

The game is delightful, silly, and perfect for Carter to play on his own.  I could watch him play for hours.  Everything on the screen has some sort of playful combination of stickers, paper craft, and paper-mache and it is all so bright and colorful. The game is full of action and adventure. The overall aesthetic of the game is gorgeous and looks crisp and polished.  Nintendo once again hit a home run with this game. It is everything we envisioned it to look like and more.  I found myself watching Carter play today and jumping out of my seat cheering him on.  He has yet to share the controller with me!

Nintendo nailed it with this game, the characters, the story and for Carter and me this game is a must this summer.  Carter's favorites are the battles and I just love watching him explore and find hidden toads.  The game is accessible to any age and everyone.
