Start The New Year Off In Disneyland

The year just started and I am already itching to go to Disneyland. It is our happy place and so many fun things are on the horizon that I wanted to share them with all of you. You can still enjoy the holiday season at the parks. It will end on Sunday, January 6th. If you will be visiting before the 6th, click here to see everything you can't miss this holiday season.

Tropical Hideaway opened at the beginning of December. It is a great spot to grab a quick bite and enjoy it as you walk the park or you can sit and watch the Jungle Cruise stroll by. There are 3 Dole Whip flavors and I hear the food is so good. I cannot wait to try this place out.

Two new rides will open this year on Pixar Pier - Jessie's Critter Carousel and Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind. No official date has been announced, but I bet it will be this summer and I can't wait!

On Monday, January 7th Small World and Haunted Mansion will close to go back to their normal version. This usually takes a few weeks.

The Lunar New Year celebration (2019 is the year of the pig) will return to DCA January 26th through February 18th. Read all about the Lunar New Year celebration from last year here. We loved it! There will be a show called Hurry Home, a Lunar New Year celebration show about 6 minutes long. There will be lots of beautiful decorations by Paradise Gardens. Mulan's Lunar New Year Procession will happen a few times throughout the day in front of Paradise Gardens and it will include the three little pigs this year to celebrate the year of the pig. There is always special entertainment, merchandise, marketplace booths with Asian food offerings, crafts for kids, and so much more!

Get Your Ears On is a new Mickey and Minnie celebration that will begin later this month and I can't wait! On January 18th a new show called Mickey's Mix Magic will begin. It is a new nighttime fireworks and projection show with all-new music, projections and lasers that set the scene for an epic dance party that takes over almost the entire park. Mickey Mouse himself will be the DJ spinning the tunes!

Also sure to delight Disneyland fans, Mickey’s Soundsational Parade is set to return to Disneyland park in January. The parade will kick off with a new float with Mickey himself and a new float with Chip 'n' Dale on a celebration cake. There will also be new merchandise like sipper cups and popcorn buckets.

Valentine's Day celebration will be happening January 22 through February 18th. We will all have the chance to celebrate the month of love with Mickey and Minnie. There will be special foods, merchandise, beverages and more! I am so excited for Minnie's Valentine's Surprise! It is a scavenger hunt for Valentine's Minnies scattered for Mickey throughout Disneyland. To participate you just need to purchase a map and stickers at select store locations. Once you have found all the Valentines you return the map and redeem a prize. This sounds similar to the Egg-stravaganza that happens around Easter time. You can read my blog post here about Egg-stravaganza. But this Minnie's Valentine's Surprise sounds so cute and fun!

In DCA starting sometime soon you can meet Captain Marvel since the movie will come out March 8, 2019. You can read about the movie here and watch the trailer.

In February Vampirina will join Disney Junior Dance Party! We love her show.

There will be two Disneyland After Dark Events. I have never been to one of the events, but they sound like so much fun. They both are a seperate ticket event. There will be Sweethearts Nite and 90's Nite.

Sweethearts Nite will be on February 7th and the price is $99 per person ages 3 and up. Ages 3 and under are free. Guests with a ticket can enter the park starting at 6 pm. The event begins at 9 pm and goes until 1 am. You will be able to take in the new fireworks show Mickey's Mix Magic, special decorations, merchandise exclusively for the event, special foods, rare character meet and greets, photo locations will have Ariel and Eric's rowboat ride, lantern scene from Tangled, and Aladdin and Jasmine's magic carpet, free photo pass downloads, a special lanyard, credential, map, and a special button for AP holders. There will even be a ball near the Small World ride where you can waltz with Disney characters! This sounds like a dream, so make sure you dress your Disney best!

90's Nite will be happening March 7th. It will include a 90's themed fireworks show. Special entertainment, rare character meet and greets, a special souvenir fanny pack, there will be great photo backdrops from popular 90's Disney movies and shows. Collect an Indiana Jones Decoder Card and a Disney Afternoon Avenue Stamp map. Sink your teeth into 90s-style menu items offered at select locations throughout the park.  Shop a sentimental selection of apparel, gifts and other goodies reminiscent of the times. Make sure you dress in your 90's best.  Need a 90s rewind? Check out the classic songs included in the Disneyland After Dark: 90s Nite playlist—it’s all that and a bag of chips!

That is all I have for right now, but I am just sure it will be a magical year at Disneyland for me and my family once again!
