What Is New At Disneyland and DCA This Spring

This past weekend we went to Disneyland. The Egg-stragavanza started on Friday, March 16th and we have done these Easter egg scavenger hunts every single year. I personally like to do it right when it starts because I have heard some of the more popular eggs can sell out. This has never happened to us since we always do the hunt right away once the dates are announced. Every year you can do the scavenger egg hunt in Downtown Disney, Disneyland, and DCA. There are 3 different maps. There are separate maps for Disneyland, DCA, and Downtown Disney. Stickers are included with your map and once you find the location of each giant size character egg you place the corresponding sticker on your map until you complete the scavenger egg hunt.

Spring time is a wonderful time to visit the parks and this just adds to the fun. The activity is easy to do and perfect for the whole family. Even if you have been to Disneyland, DCA, and Downtown Disney, the hunt will give you the opportunity to explore the theme parks and Downtown Disney in a whole new way. The map and stickers are $5.99 (plus tax), though you do get an annual pass discount if you have one. Whether you complete it or not, each map comes with 1 plastic Disney character egg (you get to choose between the 6 character eggs they have). We always like to get a complete set for each child, so we buy 4 maps for Disneyland, 4 maps for DCA, and 4 maps for Downtown Disney to guarantee that we get 12 plastic character eggs and each child has a full set. That is what we have done every year. The kids seriously love this and at home they play with the eggs and hide them around the house. Plus, inside each egg there is a special sticker. The dates for the 2018 hunt are March 16th through April 1st.  Believe me, you don't want to miss this!

You could also buy a collectible Pluto pin and two Star Wars plastic eggs.

All of the giant character eggs are hidden up high.  Here are some examples of how they are displayed.

Both kids could sit in the stroller and as we found the eggs around the parks they just peeled the correct sticker and placed it where it should go.  Such a great activity for everyone!

The Food and Wine Festival is also going on right now at DCA. It started March 2nd and will end on April 12th. The food and drinks are amazing. The entire festival is celebrating the cuisine of California! There are 13 booths offering small bites and beverages. There are live demonstrations with celebrity chefs (more info on that here), seminars for guests wanting to learn more about cooking (more info on that here).  There is also so much more, like live festival music and so many amazing presentations.

There is also Jammin' Chefs with Chip 'n' Dale adding to the mix.  This happens at Paradise Pier Obelisk (right in front of the Little Mermaid ride) Friday to Sunday: 10:30, 11:20, 12:30, 2:15, 3:00.  Monday through Thursday: 11:15, 12:15, 1:15, 2:45, 3:45, 4:45.

There is also Jr Chef class with Chef Goofy for kids ages 3-11. It is free to participate and happens several times a day. Just make sure you sign up in an advance because it fills up fast. You can sign up in the Hollywood Land backlot.  The times are Friday to Sunday: 2:45, 4:45, and 5:45 pm.  Monday to Wednesday: 12:45, 1:45, 3:45 pm.  Thursday: 1:45 and 3:45 pm.

We tried a few things and everything was delicious.

I met Cameron Mathison while in DCA.  He was very nice.  He was with his wife and two daughters.

Paint The Night Parade returns April 13th and I can't wait! But this time it will be in DCA, and this is great because I found out that DCA has one of the longest parade routes out of any Disney Park. So hopefully more room for guests to sit down and see the parade without saving seats and waiting hours for it to start. It seriously is the best parade.

Pixar Fest starts April 13th! I can't wait to see this parade. It will be a limited time celebration of Pixar and it will happen in Disneyland and DCA. Pixar Fest will include the Pixar Play Parade but this time at its new home in Disneyland (the parade has always been in DCA). There is a new firework show called Together Forever A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular with Buzz Lightyear flying over the castle!! Also in DCA at the Sunset Showcase Theater you will be able to a take a little break and watch Pixar digital shorts throughout the day. Paradise Gardens will also be having some special meet and greet character and activities for little ones.

That is just a little update what you can see now through May in case you are planning a trip. In June Pixar Pier opens and I will make sure to keep you posted on all of that. I can't wait. Here are some photos of all our fun we had over the last few days and BTW almost all the wall closures are down in Disneyland on Main Street. It is looking wall-less and flawless!!

We met Jenny and her family a year ago when we both became Legoland Blogger Ambassadors and ever since that day in San Diego we have been inseparable!  We have kids the exact same age and they love to play together and we all love spending time together.  I was so happy to spend Friday and Saturday with all of them.  We had the best time eating, riding rides, finding eggs, and catching up.  The best part is Jenny and Cam both worked at Disneyland, so I love to hear all their stories!

Carter's Flash and Colton's blaster at dinner at Naples Friday night.  I did not get pictures of the girls' balloons, but Rosie got a princess crown and Kennedy got a butterfly.

Spending St. Patrick's Day the best way ever!

Riding Jingle again! It is the lead horse and Walt's favorite.

They were selling green balloons everywhere on Saturday!

These two cuties

This was Kennedy's first time riding in the seat by herself.  She did not want to sit on my lap and she did not want me to help her shoot.  Sad and proud moment all at the same time.
