Happy 4th Of July!

We came down to Newport Beach on June 30th to celebrate Fourth Of July and spend time at one of our absolute favorite destinations. We have been staying at the Marriott Newport Coast Villas. We stay here almost every time we come to Newport. It is the best place to stay, there is so much to do for children and the amenities are amazing. We celebrated Fourth of July at Lynne's (Ashley's mom, who is my sister law married to Garrett) house in the morning. The morning started off with a photographer taking family photos, an open bar, the most amazing breakfast buffet with pancakes, bacon, sausage, and so much more. There were also the most delicious desserts like chocolate waffles, cakes, make your own sundaes and more. Everything was decorated so perfect. There were also face painters and a guy making balloon animals for the kids and he was legit - he seriously could make anything. After eating, getting faces painted, and enough balloon animals to fit in the trunk of a suburban we headed down to be in the Lido Island Fourth of July parade. The kids all decorated scooters and Kennedy had her little red tricycle all decked out and we walked in the parade, collected candy and waved to the crowds.  It was the best morning ever. Honestly, I was just smiling from ear to ear because seeing my kids so excited and happy made me so happy. They had the best time.

First time Kennedy has ever got her face painted.  She LOVED every second of it.

After some super long naps back at the Marriott in the afternoon we got all ready and headed to Heather's (Ashley's sister) house to celebrate more and have dinner and see fireworks. The kids played in their amazing play room, some kids swam in the backyard, and we ate a delicious dinner. There was chicken, hot dogs, fruit, veggies, and so many delicious salads. It was just so good. After dinner we took the party to the front yard where the kids played with sparklers and once it was dark we walked down the street to this amazing little terrace area and watched the most spectacular firework show. My kids kept saying, "this is like Disneyland."  They just loved it.

It was the most amazing day and probably my favorite Fourth Of July ever. Usually we stay home every year and the kids and I just swim and I cook dinner and we are in bed before dark. We don't go anywhere to see fireworks because that just stresses me out trying to park, save seats, and the traffic getting back home. Plus, Blake is always working on the Fourth Of July, so it is usually just me and the kids. So this year was so so so nice to do something festive and fun. I just loved every second of it. Thank you Lynne and Heather for being the most gracious hosts and welcoming all of us with open arms. We love you so much.

We are still here in Newport enjoying the cooler weather, the amazing food and of course the shopping. I'll post more on our trip when I get back home. I hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth Of July!
