TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: MUTANT MAYHEM In Theaters August 2

Cowabunga dudes!  We are so excited for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem to premiere in theaters August 2.  In June we interviewed the cast for the movie and found out it is an animated reboot that embraces the teenage aspect of the characters and makes some radical changes to the origin story.  Today we were invited to the family day premiere for TMNT Mutant Mayhem at the Paramount Lot.  We had a spe-shell time!  Check out all the fun we had here.

In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, after years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts. Their new friend April O’Neil helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them.  The film is rated PG and it is 1 hour and 39 minutes.  See it in theaters August 2.

I love that this movie really explores the youthful side of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and they really add depth to each of the characters.  This movie was so nostalgic for me and Blake, and it was so fun to introduce TMNT to the kids.  I love that in this film the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are teenagers and they are played/voiced by teenagers.  Raphael (Brady Noon) has a temper, Leonardo (Nicolas Cantu) just wants to be a good leader and do what is right, Donatello (Micah Abbey) is super smart, and Michelangelo (Shamon Brown Jr.) is fun and carefree.  They could not have picked a better group of boys to voice these turtles.  The boys really get to act like teens and say things teens would say.  The writing is so smart.  The boys also recorded all their lines together, which I think was so good for the overall chemistry of the characters.  The animation and style of this film is phenomenal.  The visuals are stunning.  TMNT Mutant Mayhem is laugh out loud funny and includes a powerful message about acceptance.

Today we were invited to the Paramount Lot to attend the family day premiere.  We got to meet director Jeff Rowe.  We ate yummy food, played fun games, made crafts, enjoyed so many photo ops, and the whole experience was so much fun!

The kids getting ready to interview the cast.

We interviewed Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr., Nicolas Cantu, and Brady Noon.  We found out what pizza toppings they like, what their favorite scenes were in the movie, favorite thing about the character that they voice, they shared about the voice over process, talked about the audition process, and more.  They were so nice to talk with and so much fun.  After the interview it made us even more excited to see the movie.

This interview was conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike.

DIY your own Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle costume. All you need are green pajamas, TMNT Sunstaches, yellow felt for the chest, brown felt for the belt, gray felt for the buckle, and whatever color felt for the turtle you want to represent. We used red and orange for Michelangelo and Raphael.  You will need this color felt around your elbows, wrists and knees.  For the turtle shell on your back use an aluminum roaster pan and spray paint it brown.

Thank you TMNT and Zac's Sweet Shop for the goodies.
