Rosaline is a fresh and comedic twist on Shakespeare’s classic love story Romeo & Juliet, told from the perspective of Juliet’s cousin Rosaline (Kaitlyn Dever), who also happens to be Romeo’s recent love interest. Heartbroken when Romeo (Kyle Allen) meets Juliet (Isabela Merced) and begins to pursue her, Rosaline schemes to foil the famous romance and win back her guy. This movie was hilarious, charming, witty and it is a rom com that everyone will love. It is the perfect at-home date night movie. Rosaline is on Hulu now.
I am sure most of you are familiar with the story of Romeo and Juliet, but this story is told by Rosaline (Romeo's ex girlfriend). The movie is very funny and the cast is so good. It will have you laughing out loud. The movie is rated PG-13 and it is 90 minutes long. I liked the unique story and thought the movie was very entertaining.
I was honored to be included in the press conference last week for the movie. The cast discussed their characters and how they are different from the original Romeo and Juliet. Some are actually completely new to the story. Rosaline is very briefly mentioned in the original Romeo and Juliet. Kaitlyn Dever who plays Rosaline said there was not a lot of pressure to play the part of Rosaline since there was really nothing to compare her to. Minnie Driver was so excited to play Nurse Janet and even though her role is small, it is an important role.
The cast includes Kyle Allen (Romeo), Isabela Merced (Juliet), Kaitlyn Dever (Rosaline), Sean Teale (Dario), Minnie Driver (Nurse Janet), Spencer Stevenson (Paris) and more.
It was fun to hear from the entire cast about what they thought of their characters and the movie. You can meet the new characters in the movie Rosaline streaming now on Hulu.
