Tyson's Run In Theaters Now

Tyson's Run is the inspirational film directed by Kim Bass (Creator of “Sister, Sister,” “Kenan & Kel”) that will have the entire family encouraged to walk through difficulty united and full of faith. When autistic fifteen-year-old Tyson attends public school for the first time, his life is changed forever. While helping his father clean up after the football team, Tyson befriends champion marathon runner Aklilu. Never letting his autism hold him back, Tyson becomes determined to run his first marathon in hopes of winning his father's approval.  With the help of an unlikely friend and his parents, Tyson learns that with faith in yourself and the courage to take the first step, anything is possible.  Tyson's Run will be in theaters on March 11th.

The dynamic cast includes Major Dodson, Rory Cochrane, Amy Smart, Oscar nominee Barkhad Abdi, Reno Wilson and more.

Tyson's Run is rated PG and and it is 1 hour and 43 minutes. I had the pleasure of screening this movie recently and we watched it as a family. It is a heart-warming story of overcoming odds, changing perceptions, and a love of winning. I think this is a movie that everyone needs to watch. It is a beautiful story, but it also helps talk to your kids about the importance of treating everyone with respect and kindness, and realizing that you can achieve anything as long as you believe in yourself. No one can stop you from making your dreams come true.

I loved this movie for so many reasons, but after watching it my kids had so many questions.  They had questions about autism, bullying, and it brought up wonderful conversations that I was happy to have with my kids.  Tyson's Run will open your eyes to the world and I hope it makes people realize we are all going through our own struggles in life and we all deserve love, opportunity and support to go after our dreams whether they are big or small.

Don't forget April is Autism Acceptance Month
