Everything You Need To Know About Disneyland Resort Magic Key Program & Disney Genie

As a Legacy Passholder I have been eagerly waiting for a new annual pass to be announced since the parks opened back up in April.  Blake and I have had passes since we were married and the kids have had passes since the age of three.  The new passholder program will be called Magic Key!  Grab a Mickey shaped waffle and let me share with you all about the Magic Key program and the new Disney Genie service!

The Magic Key program will offer flexibility and value for park admission, special access to unique experiences, valuable saving opportunities and so much more. There will be four options of Magic Key passes, to provide guests with choices that fit various needs and lifestyle preferences for how they wish to visit the Disneyland Resort.  You can view the calendar HERE.

Magic Key holders will make advanced reservations to enjoy Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure park on available dates, and be able to hold a certain number of upcoming reservations (depending on the pass type that you purchase).

Magic Key holders will have access to an array of special offerings and many features that guests will love, such as valuable saving opportunities for merchandise and food & beverage. Throughout the year, they may also be able to enjoy special benefits, such as a dedicated dining experience and custom menu items at the Magic Key terrace, special offerings at festivals just for Magic Key holders, a Magic Key holder celebration month, plus other unique surprises!

The Magic Key Terrace located in DCA has an exclusive menu with fun cocktails and delicious food items.  It does not take reservations and you will have to show your Magic Key in your app.  It is walk up only.

Magic Key Holder Lounge is located in Disneyland in Tomorrowland.  This is located in Starcade and has a special space phone charging station, close up of Magic Key merchandise, fun photo opportunities for Magic Key Holders and you may even get a visit from Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse.  This is open now until October 30, 2021.  You must show proof that you are a Magic Key holder.

Photo Opportunities: Magic Key Holders can get a Magic Shot with Mr. Toad. Downloading is free to Magic Key Holders. It is located near Pixie Hollow. If you are attending the Oogie Boogie Bash get ready to have a spooktacular themed photo from the movie Hocus Pocus near the Silly Symphony Swings.

If you purchase the Dream or Believe Magic Key Holder passes and stay at one of the resort hotels and schedule a Tenaya Signature Massage at the spa, you will get a complementary upgrade stone massage.  This expires on December 15, 2021.

Don't forget about the limited edition popcorn bucket!  This will release sometime in September and it is $1.50 for refills until November 10, 2021.

Disney will be introducing an all-new Magic Key portal on the Disneyland app to allow for direct engagement with Magic Key holders in the future.

For a limited time, Disney will celebrate the charter members who become Magic Key holders within the first 66 days (as we celebrate 66 years of Disneyland Resort). You will receive a special welcome package that will include unique items such as a premium branded pin, celebratory button, magnet, and more!

Purchasing a Magic Key Pass can be done HERE.

It is very simple.  Access the calendar, make a reservation, and review and confirm your visit!

A monthly payment plan exclusively for California residents will be offered.  Magic Key passes start as low as $399 or $19/month for 12 months (for Southern California residents, and after a down payment).

Guests will be able to purchase and manage their Magic Key pass through Disneyland.com and the Disneyland app, where they will be able to access an interactive admission calendar for their pass type to view reservation availability and book their theme park reservations.

Disneyland also announced their new fast pass program. Here is everything you need to know.

Disney Genie is a complimentary and convenient new digital service designed to create your best Disney day. Built right into the My Disney Experience and Disneyland apps, Disney Genie service will maximize your park time, so you can have more fun. It includes a personalized itinerary feature that will quickly and seamlessly map out an entire day. From specific attractions, foodie experiences and entertainment, to general interests like Disney princesses, villains, Pixar, Star Wars, thrill rides and more just tell Disney Genie what you want to do and it will do the planning for you.

Here are a few more features:

Get Itinerary Updates from Morning to Night: Disney Genie will continue to update your itinerary throughout your day, so you can be more spontaneous and go with the flow.

Find Your Favorites at a Glance: Create your very own personal tip board to instantly see your favorites. It will display current and forecasted future wait times, helping you predict when you might experience quicker entry to attractions.

Enjoy More Flexibility and Fun: Disney Genie brings existing planning features together in one place.

Join a virtual queue at certain attractions, make dining and experience reservations, mobile order food at many locations, get help from a virtual assistant and more.

For even more convenience and flexibility, there are two other options for enjoying the theme parks, through a queue called the Lightning Lane entrance that also saves you time in line:

Disney Genie+ service (available for purchase): For the price of $15 per ticket per day at Walt Disney World Resort and $20 per ticket per day at Disneyland Resort, choose the next available time to arrive at a variety of attractions and experiences using the Lightning Lane entrance. You can make one selection at a time, throughout the day from classics like Haunted Mansion to thrill rides like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and newer favorites like Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run (attractions subject to limited availability). This convenient option is the next evolution of the fan-favorite Disney MaxPass service from Disneyland Resort. Disney Genie+ will also include Disney parks-themed audio experiences and photo features to capture your memories augmented reality lenses for those visiting Walt Disney World Resort and unlimited Disney PhotoPass downloads from your day if you are visiting Disneyland Resort.

Individual attraction selections (available for purchase): Schedule a time to arrive at up to two highly demanded attractions each day using the Lightning Lane entrance like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom Park and Radiator Springs Racers at Disney California Adventure park (subject to limited availability; attractions not included with Disney Genie+). Pricing for this option will vary by date, attraction and park and will be announced closer to launch.

Lightning Lane selections will be made on the same day of your visit and can be used across multiple theme parks, great for those who love the Park Hopper option. Attractions continue to offer a traditional standby queue, or a virtual queue at certain attractions like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance to maximize flexibility.

While the FASTPASS, FastPass+ and Disney MaxPass services will be retired, I am excited about the flexibility and choices Disney Genie service will provide.

Disneyland is also making some enhancements to their Disability Access Service (DAS) program, including new options to enroll in the program pre-arrival and for DAS participants to select attractions directly in the app. These options will be available in addition to the existing, in-person DAS program. Visit Services for Guests with Disabilities page DisneyWorld.com and Disneyland.com for more details.

Now the BIG question is what Magic Key will you be getting and are you excited about the new Disney Genie service?!
