Eat! Shop! Play! In Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort

This past week Carter and I went to Downtown Disney for the day while Blake was with Kennedy in the hospital. We definitely did not feel right about hitting the parks with out our other two, so we settled for some fun in Downtown Disney. We explored, shopped, ate, and had so much fun. Downtown Disney is a great activity to do with kids or your family if you are looking for something to do and wanting to get that Disney fix. So grab a Mickey pretzel and let's explore!

If you are just visiting Downtown Disney for a few hours I suggest the Simba parking lot. 1183 W Katella Ave, Anaheim, CA 92802 You can park for free for up to 15 minutes. Guests receive 3 hours of parking in the Downtown Disney parking lot with a single minimum purchase of $20 at any shop, or restaurant (including kiosks), in Downtown Disney.

Smile and say Spidey!  Catch this mural where the ESPN Zone was located.  Close to the Disneyland Hotel, but inside DTD.

There are several places to eat in DTD. My personal favorites are Naples and Tortilla Jo's, but for a sweet treat you can't miss Marceline's Confectionary.  Here are some other great restaurants that are located in Downtown Disney.  I love that there are sit down options, seating options outside, or quick service options.  There are also two Starbucks in DTD so you can fuel up on coffee before hitting the stores and parks!

Tortilla Jo's is a colorful cantina serving Mexican plates & a long list of tequilas. I love the fajitas and Blake loves their burritos at Tortilla Jo's.

Naples features wood-fired pies, pastas, salads & other traditional Italian eats at a casual, family-friendly spot.  I love the Cesar salad and spaghetti and meatballs. My kids love the cheese pizza and everything is so good at Naples.

Enjoy creole fare & live jazz that's suitable for families at Jazz Kitchen.

La Brea Bakery is popular for its handmade bread. This casual café serves sandwiches, fruit, soup & more. They also serve breakfast. This place is great if you want to grab something quick and head into the parks.

Earl Of Sandwiches boasts a variety of hot sandwiches, wraps, salads & an array of desserts. This place is perfect if you are in a hurry and want to grab a quick bite and keep moving.

You can never go wrong with a corn dog!

Catal is an upscale yet casual establishment that offers an array of Mediterranean eats, plus an extensive wine list.

Splitsville is a swanky bowling center enhanced by pool tables, TVs, bars & a restaurant serving sushi & more.

Enjoy award-winning beer and sensational Southern California cuisine at Ballast Point Brewery & Kitchen on the rooftop patio of this family-friendly brewery.

Wetzel Pretzel is the best. Handcrafted pretzels come sweet or salty at this chain that also offers hot dogs & specialty dips.  Don't forget to grab a lemonade!

Not heading into the parks? You can still get a churro!

Get the scoop at Salt & Straw. Discover taste-provoking ice cream at this family-run scoop shop! Stop by for handmade, small-batch, seasonal flavors created with local ingredients in collaboration with artisans, chefs and farmers.

Sprinkle some sweetness into your day with an irresistible variety of hand-crafted gourmet cupcakes and decadent cookie creations at Sprinkles Cupcakes.

Black Tap is the perfect place for burgers, milkshakes and other delish dishes at this throwback-style eatery!

Marceline's Confectionery is a sweet shop at Disneyland Resort with a whimsical atmosphere offering handmade candies & baked goods.

Shopping is a must in DTD! My personal favorite is World Of Disney! Here are some other great stores you can't miss while exploring DTD.

Celebrate your love for a galaxy far, far away at a brand-new shopping destination called Star Wars Trading Post for all things Star Wars.

There is also a Sephora, Sugarboo & Co., Pandora, Sunglass Icon and more!  There are so many wonderful shops to explore in DTD.

Don't forget to explore. Have fun with the family. Make sure you walk all of DTD, check out the shops, eat, and look at the beautiful decor.

Come on down to see how things are “lining up” for Mickey Mouse and his pals. These popular anamorphic art installations have been updated and are back this year for guests to enjoy throughout the summer. Check out the pieces from certain vantage points and you’ll see the whole picture!

Pop into the picture with selfie stops including Spider-Man celebrating the opening of Avengers Campus.

Summertime brings so many great things to see and do in Downtown Disney District. Where will you eat, shop or explore first?  Don't forget, they even sell Disneyland balloons in DTD!  What color will you choose?
