From the creator of "The New Adventures of Old Christine," "Call Your Mother" follows Jean, an empty nester mom who wonders how she ended up alone while her children live their best lives thousands of miles away. She decides her place is with her family, and as she reinserts herself into their lives her kids realize they might actually need her more than they thought. Call Your Mother is a new comedy that premieres tonight on ABC at 9:30 pm.
Recently I was able to screen the first episode and participate in a virtual press junket with the cast. The cast includes Kari Lizer (creator and executive producer), Kyra Sedgwick, Patrick Brammall, Emma Caymares, Joey Bragg, Rachel Sennott, and Austin Crute. Here are a few things they shared with me.
The creator of the show, Kari Lizar, chose the state of Iowa for the show because she loves it there. There is dog on the show, Ripper, and his real name is Orbit and everyone absolutely loves him on set.
The show is really good. It is funny and you can tell these people really care about each other. It is about people connecting and finding new connections and making new relationships. It will make you feel good and laugh and that is what we all need right now. It is authentic and joyful and deals with everyday life and that is what I really liked about the show. During these trying times, this show will bring a smile to your face and make you laugh out loud. There is something for everyone while watching the show and it will make you want to call your mother!
Call Your Mother premieres Wednesday, January 13th at 9:30pm ET/PT on ABC
