Our Visit to the El Capitan Theatre In Los Angeles to see Dumbo

Disney's Dumbo hit theaters on Friday.  We have been so excited to see this movie.  When I heard that it was playing at El Capitan in Los Angeles I knew we had to see it there.  We have never been to the El Capitan and I don't think I will ever be able to see another Disney movie anywhere else.  From the moment we received our tickets and saw that we were VIP and were escorted onto a red carpet to enter the theatre I knew it was going to be unlike any other previous film viewing experience.  My own little Dumbo and Timothy were so excited that the smiles would not leave their faces.  You can click here to see how I made their costumes.

Every single employee was so friendly and nice.  They answered any questions I had and they were so helpful.  I am not kidding when I say every single employee was happy to be there and they were just so very nice.  From the moment you walk up to the theatre there are several different movie posters to view and once you are inside you are greeted by the smell of popcorn, excitement and magic.

Downstairs you are able to view costumes from the movie and see digital posters that were created by a collection of global artists from Poster Posse.  I loved seeing the costumes.  There is also a fun circus photo op down stairs.

Upstairs you can get your photo with Dumbo himself!  You can visit with circus performers and take photos with them.  There is a large cardboard cut out of the Dumbo movie poster to take photos with too.  I loved it all!  The VIP concession stand gave us these adorable Dumbo popcorn buckets and we loved them.  They are perfect to keep toys in or just as a keepsake.

Once we entered the theatre I literally had tears in my eyes.  Music was playing by Rob Richards.  The colors in the theatre are vibrant and amazing.  There is so much to see and look at, so make sure you take the time to really admire and check out the details of the theatre.  Before the movie started circus performers put on a magical show to get us ready and excited to see Dumbo.  They were amazing.  Once they were done they lifted the curtain and the movie started.

Dumbo is a live action adventure. It is about differences being celebrated, about cherishing family and watching dreams take flight! Struggling circus owner Max Medici enlists a former star and his two children to care for Dumbo, a baby elephant born with oversized ears. When the family discovers that the animal can fly, it soon becomes the main attraction, bringing in huge audiences and revitalizing the run-down circus. The elephant's magical ability also draws the attention of V.A. Vandevere, an entrepreneur who wants to showcase Dumbo in his latest, larger-than-life entertainment venture.

The movie was so good.  We all loved it.  Carter is 7 and Kennedy is 4 and they sat and could not take their eyes off the screen the entire time.

We drove from Fresno to see Dumbo at El Capitan and it was so worth every single mile.  It was the best movie theater experience we have ever had.  Blake and I both agreed we will probably drive to El Capitan to see every Disney movie that comes out this year since there are some amazing movies being released.  I can't repeat enough that it was worth the drive to see Dumbo at El Capitan and if you have kids they will love it!  They also have complementary booster seats for children who might have a hard time seeing the screen.  Another helpful tip of advice is that I recommend arriving at least an hour early if you are anything like me and want to look around, take your time, and take tons of photos.
