Elio is a heartwarming, funny, and imaginative story about finding your place in the universe, literally! Elio is an animated sci-fi adventure from Pixar that follows an 11 year old boy named Elio (Yonas Kibreab), who accidentally becomes Earth's intergalactic ambassador after he's mysteriously transported across the galaxy. Elio is just a regular kid who gets mistaken for Earth’s ambassador by a group of aliens. As he navigates wild intergalactic challenges and strange new worlds, he learns that being yourself is the most powerful thing you can be.
I really love Elio. It is such a creative and heartfelt film. The story is funny, emotional, and filled with imagination. I especially connect with Elio’s journey of learning to believe in yourself. I appreciate the message about embracing who you are, even when you feel you are different from others. Elio is super relatable and lovable; his relationship with his Aunt Olga (Zoe Saldana) adds so much warmth to the story. While his aunt, Olga, works on a top-secret government project trying to make contact with alien life, Elio ends up being the one who answers the call. Yonas Kibreab brings so much heart and humor to his portrayal of Elio. The animation is stunning, especially the colorful alien worlds and unique character designs. Every frame feels magical, the visuals truly bring the galaxy to life.
The film’s message is all about embracing who you are, even when you feel out of place. The film shows that you don’t have to pretend to be someone else to be important; you already matter just by being you. I give Elio 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 5 to 18. plus adults. You can see Elio in theaters now. Thanks for listening.
