Thank you from the bottom of my heart to Disney Studios for the incredible honor of being invited to the Lilo & Stitch live-action premiere. This story has always meant so much to me. It is a reminder that family is found in the most unexpected places, and that love doesn’t have to look perfect to be real. To see it reimagined with such heart, care, and spirit was truly moving. Being surrounded by so many creatives, storytellers, and fellow fans who feel the same deep connection to this film was something I’ll never forget. Thank you Disney for letting us be a small part of this beautiful celebration of Ohana.

Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten. Watching Lilo and Stitch come to life again, with all its heart, humor, and Ohana was nothing short of magical. The 2025 live-action adaptation of Disney's Lilo & Stitch reimagines the beloved 2002 animated classic, blending heartfelt storytelling with contemporary visuals. Set against the lush backdrop of Hawaii, the film follows Lilo, a spirited young girl dealing with the loss of her parents and the challenges of fitting in. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she adopts Stitch, a mischievous alien experiment engineered for destruction. As intergalactic forces pursue Stitch, Lilo, alongside her older sister Nani, strives to teach him the true meaning of Ohana.
The movie was filmed on location in Oahu, Hawaii and the production showcases the island's lush landscapes. The film emphasizes the Hawaiian concept of 'Ohana'—family—highlighting emotional bonds beyond biological ties. With a soundtrack featuring classic Elvis Presley songs and new renditions of Hawaiian favorites, the movie aims to capture the essence of the original while offering a fresh perspective for a new generation. The cast is super cool! Maia Kealoha plays Lilo, and she's so awesome because she's from Hawaii, just like Lilo. Sydney Agudong is Nani, Lilo's big sister, and she has a beautiful voice when she sings in the movie! Chris Sanders, who played Stitch in the first movie, is back to voice him again. He's the only one from the original movie playing the same part. Billy Magnussen is playing Pleakley, the funny alien, and Hannah Waddingham is the Grand Councilwoman, the boss alien. Even Tia Carrere, who was Nani in the original, is back as a new character named Mrs. Kekoa. It’s like a big family reunion with old and new friends! The cast is fantastic, but Maia as Lilo steals the show.
The film's message is about the importance of family, love, and accepting people (and aliens!) who are different. One of the biggest lessons is the idea of ʻOhana, which means family in Hawaiian. Lilo says, “ʻOhana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.” The movie shows how even though Lilo and her sister Nani have a hard time, they always stick together. When Stitch shows up and causes chaos, they choose to care for him, and he becomes part of their family too. It teaches that people or creatures who seem strange or bad at first might just be lost or hurting inside and they can change when they feel loved and accepted. I give Lilo and Stitch 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 5 to 18 plus adults. See Lilo and Stitch in theaters this Friday, May 23. The film is rated PG and it is 1 hour and 48 minutes.
