Greetings fellow Ozians. I love Wicked. I am a huge fan of the Broadway play and the movie. The cast is outstanding, the visuals are breathtaking, the music is beautiful and from the moment the movie started it held my attention the whole time. If you are a fan of musicals or Wicked the Broadway play this movie is a must see. Right now you can watch Wicked in theaters and you can even purchase tickets to a sing a long screening in theaters where the lyrics are on the screen and you can sing along to all the songs. But you can also sing your heart out at home on the comfort of your own couch because Wicked will be available to rent or own beginning Tuesday, December 31.
WICKED is the untold story of the witches of Oz and stars Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, a misunderstood young woman who has yet to discover her true power, and Ariana Grande as Glinda, a popular young woman who has yet to discover her true heart. The two meet at Shiz University and forge an unlikely friendship before their lives take different paths following an encounter with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Their extraordinary adventures lead them to fulfill their destinies as the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.
Wicked is full of magic, love, and laughter. It is the perfect combination of the book and the play and creates something absolutely magical. Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda (Ariana Grande) are magic on screen together. This is my favorite film of the year. The movie is gorgeous, the two leads are outstanding and the supporting cast is perfection. Cynthia and Ariana both have incredible singing voices and deliver performances that will give you chills and bring you to tears. The set designs and costumes are magical. The costumes have so many details and the sets are perfectly crafted to fit the world of Oz. Be sure to look out for cameos from the original Broadway musical! Even though the movie is almost 3 hours, it does not drag or ever slow down. There was not a moment where I checked what time it was or felt bored. I could watch it over and over again.
Jonathan Bailey shines in the role of Fiyero, Marissa Bode was made to play Nessarose, Ethan Slater is adorable as Boq, Jeff Goldblum is wicked as the Wizard of Oz, and Michelle Yeoh is incredible as Madame Morrible. I give Wicked 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend it for ages 8 to 18, plus adults. You can see Wicked in theaters now and remember you can also purchase tickets to a sing a long screening in theaters. You can also rent or own Wicked beginning Tuesday, December 31. Wicked: For The Good, Part 2 will be in theaters November 21, 2025
