A Minecraft Movie Review

Get ready for the greatest adventure ever built.  I will be reviewing the film A Minecraft Movie.  If you love to play the game like I do, you will definitely love this movie.  I have been so excited to see this movie and finally saw it over spring break.  I enjoyed the cast, the storyline, and was laughing out loud throughout the entire movie.  It is a magical adventure and is packed with fantastical vibes and funny jokes, even for non-gamers like my parents.  A mysterious portal pulls four misfits into the Overworld, a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, they'll have to master the terrain while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected builder named Steve.  Make sure you stay all the way through the credits because there are both a mid credit and post credit scene.

The entire cast was so good in this film, but I loved Jack Black who plays Steve the most.  He looked like he was having the time of his life making this movie.  I liked how they started the movie by telling the story of Steve from when he was a kid. He always wanted to mine since he was a little boy.  He finally got his chance when he was older, which is how he found the Overworld and unleashed his creativity. Soon Garrett (Jason Momoa), Henry (Sebastian Eugene Hansen), Natalie (Emma Myers) and Dawn (Danielle Brooks) find themselves stuck in the Overworld and that's when the real adventure starts.  The entire look of the Overworld is amazing.  It's just like the game, but on the big screen.  It is visually amazing.  I loved all the block styles throughout the movie.  Every animal and creature has a square head just like the game and the animals like the pandas and wolves are so cute.  They also addressed a lot in the movie, like why the Villagers don't talk, why the Iron Golems are good until you threaten them, and so much more.  There are so many Easter eggs in the movie, so be on the lookout for those when you watch.

The film's message is about family, friendship, using your imagination and never giving up what you believe in. It reminds the audience that you can do anything if you put your mind to it. I give A Minecraft Movie 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 5 to 18 plus adults.  You can see A Minecraft Movie in theaters now. The film is rated PG and it is 1 hour and 41 minutes.
