Feel The Magic This Holiday Season With Godmothered On Disney+

I was honored to be asked by Disney+ to screen GodMothered last month.  Set at Christmas time, “GodMothered” is a comedy about Eleanor, a young, inexperienced fairy godmother-in-training (Jillian Bell) who upon hearing that her chosen profession is facing extinction, decides to show the world that people still need fairy godmothers. Finding a lost letter from a 10-year-old girl in distress, Eleanor tracks her down and discovers that the girl, Mackenzie, is now a 40-year-old single mom (Isla Fisher) working at a news station in Boston. Having lost her husband several years earlier, Mackenzie has all but given up on the idea of “Happily Ever After,” but Eleanor is bound and determined to give Mackenzie a happiness makeover (whether she likes it or not) and remind her of the importance of happiness and magic just in time for Christmas. Godmothered will be streaming on Disney+ starting Dec. 4th.

Godmothered is the perfect movie for the entire family.  The movie is set at Christmastime which is so nice since we are celebrating the holidays. It is lighthearted and offers families who are staying at home (like us) wonderful entertainment to watch together as a family.

Makenzie feels lost and scared, but with the help of her Godmother Elenor, Makenzie learns she does not need a spell and either do her two daughters because they are already magical.  They just need to believe in themselves.

I loved that this movie teaches girls that the formula for "happily ever after" does not require your true love to be a prince.  Makenzie's true loves are her daughters and Elanor teaches her to remember to live happily.  Love does not need to look a certain way with a prince, a castle, a gown.  Sometimes we are trapped in the idea of a fairy tale when the real world is full of so much more.  Instead of having a specific idea of what true love is supposed to look like, stop for a second and look around and you will see that we are all different and beautiful in our own unique ways.  Love comes in so many forms and we all need to open our hearts to love and accept one another for who we were meant to be.  Elanor did not magically fix Mackenzie's life. She showed her how to fix it herself, and that is what I loved most about this movie.

Godmothered will be streaming on Disney+ starting Dec. 4th.
