Why You Should See Disney Pixar Onward

Last night we attended the world premiere of Disney Pixar Onward at the El Capitan Theater in LA. It was so much fun. We got to see the stars walk the blue carpet (we got to walk the blue carpet too), eat, drink, visit with old and new friends, play games, take photos, and experience some fun Onward activities. The kids had the best time. After the pre-party and movie screening we went back to our hotel and all of us were sitting on one bed eating room service, sharing our favorite scenes from the movie and discussing how extremely blessed we are that we get invited by Disney to see screenings, attend world premieres, meet celebrities, and live this amazing blessed life. Thank you Disney for another magical night. Onward opens March 6th.  Click here for coloring and activity pages.

The kids insisted on having their photo by every single movie poster.  Just look at those smiles!  They were so excited.

Onward is about two teenage elf brothers, Ian and Barley Lightfoot, who go on a journey to discover if there is still a little magic left out there in order to spend one last day with their father, who died when they were too young to remember him. It stars Chris Pratt, Tom Holland, Octavia Spencer, Julia Louis Dreyfus, Ali Wong, and more. I feel like Pratt and Holland were perfectly casted as Barley and Ian. You can feel their connection to the story and it shines through their performance on and off camera.

We loved Onward. It was full of magic, laughter, brotherhood, focusing on loss and family. It is a coming of age story that reminds us all about the importance of the bonds we share with our loved ones. This movie added humanistic and emotional depth to a fantastical world and Ian and Barley's brotherly chemistry adds humor and heart. This movie will definitely pull on the heartstrings of anyone who has ever lost a parent or loved one. Make sure you bring tissues.

On a little side note, we attend Disney Fan Fest last spring and since that day we have literally become friends with the cast of Coop and Cami Ask The World.  They know Carter and Kennedy's names, they chat with them and it is just the sweetest.  The kids are always with their parents at premieres and events that we attend and the parents are so nice too.  It has been so fun getting to know this cast since they are part of our Saturday mornings and if you have not watched Coop and Cami Ask The World, start watching it now!  This is Dakota and Albert, who play Cooper and Fred on the show.

This is Paxton who plays Ollie on the show.

This is Olivia who plays Charlotte on the show.

This is Rebecca who plays Jenna on the show.

At the party they had sparkles, so of course Kennedy was all about it!

Old Navy had a stand where you could design your own journal just like the one Ian has in the movie.  The kids loved this!  Plus Carter was wearing one of the signature Onward shirts from Old Navy!

He drew Barley and Ian on his journal.

We always see Jared and Ashley from the Bachelor at events and premieres.  They are just so nice!

How cute are these two with their elf ears!

Carter is 8 and Kennedy is 5 and they both understood and loved the entire movie. They really loved the magical/wizardry part of the movie. They are still sharing with me what items they would take on a magical quest like Ian and Barley. I loved how the movie was about family and brotherhood. In the movie Ian realizes even without having his dad around his big brother Barley has been by his side all along. Sometimes we forget the importance of family and sometimes take them for granted. This movie really makes you realize your time on earth is precious and to hold your loved ones close. I also love the bond that Ian and Barley share. Their jokes, laughter, and even arguing are everything that siblings deal with everyday and I loved seeing it on the big screen and even though it was two brothers, I know Carter and Kennedy could relate as siblings. I tell them all the time that your sibling will be your very best friend forever. Friends will come and go, but your sibling will always be there for you just like in Onward!

At every premiere this is my favorite part when the entire cast is introduced and they all come on the stage before the movie starts!  It is magical and so exciting!

Don't worry, you can meet Ian and Barley too!  These two brothers will be making their debut at Disneyland After Dark Pixar Nite on March 5th.  Then starting March 6th you can meet them daily at Pixar Pier in DCA!  Also make sure you see the movie at El Capitan Theater because before the film you can see Ian and Barley live on stage, take photos with a real life version of Guinevere (Barley's groovy purple van) and enjoy great photo ops inside!!  I am serious when I say that El Capitan is the only place to see Disney movies!  They go all out.  It is just a magical experience!

Make sure you see Onward when it hits theaters March 6th. I can't wait to hear what you would take on a magical quest like Ian and Barley!
