A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood is available on digital now, and will be on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD this Tuesday, February 18th. It is a wonderful movie that stars Tom Hanks earning an Academy Award nomination for his role as Mister Rogers. The film is a timely story of kindness triumphing over cynicism based on the real-life friendship between Fred Rogers and journalist Tom Junod. In one scene, Mister Rogers takes his puppet Daniel Tiger out of a suitcase and talks about all the ways you can deal with your feelings without hurting yourself or anyone else. In that same vein, we loved crafting our own puppets as a family and having continued open communication about remembering to treat others with empathy and kindness always.
The movie is about Lloyd Vogel, an investigative journalist who receives an assignment to profile Fred Rogers, aka Mr. Rogers. He approaches the interview with skepticism, as he finds it hard to believe that anyone can have such a good nature. But Rogers' empathy, kindness and decency soon chips away at Vogel's jaded outlook on life, forcing the reporter to reconcile with his own painful past. It stars Tom Hanks, Matthew Rhys, Susan Kelechi Watson and Chris Cooper. The movie is directed by Marielle Heller.
