Happy New Years Eve

Since we had Carter (2011) we have stayed home for NYE. I actually love it. We get take out (pizza or Chinese), take our annual NYE photo and just enjoy being home together. We play games and usually none of us see midnight, but that is okay. I wanted to share some ways you can celebrate with your family this year at home.

Get that fancy china out! We always have gold plates, fancy glasses and set the table really festive for dinner and we always toast to the New Year!

Bake and cook up some fun food! I love making fun charcuterie trays for the afternoon, but having finger foods and yummy sweets throughout the day and evening is always so much fun. You can even use a star cookie cutter for cookies or sandwiches for the kids. It is so easy. We always do take out for dinner and it is easy, delicious and fun.

Make sure you have party hats and streamers. It is not NYE without streamers, hats, and noise makers. You can easily find these at the grocery store, Target, Walmart, the dollar store, or better yet make your own! I made the black party hats on the bottom of my bar cart. You can even take all that left over tinsel from Christmas and make fun necklaces and headbands.

Play games and put puzzles together. There is nothing better than watching a great movie and playing a game as a family or putting together a large puzzle. We are addicted to games and puzzles in our house.

Relive memories from the year. I know it was not the year many of us planned on, but I am so blessed and happy we are healthy and alive and together. I love looking at photos and watching videos on my phone from this past year. Try it, it will make you cherish every single memory and moment.

Make plans for the New Year! We always talk at dinner what intentions we have for the new year, what we want to accomplish, where we want to travel and we make sure to pray and hope for the best year ahead.

Dance the night away! Make sure you turn up the tunes in the living room, put on your PJ's and dance away 2019!

Stay up until midnight (this does not happen in the Patricio house), but you can always watch the East coast ball drop 3 hours earlier on TV or YouTube. That way no one feels like they missed the ball drop. Whatever time you stay up until, make sure you kiss the people you love most and wish them a Happy New Year! The best is yet to come!

Take that NYE photo. Every year we take our annual photo outside. It is does not have to be elaborate or fancy. We literally take our photo by the garage door every year. I love going back and looking at the photos from past years. The kids grow up so fast and I just want to cherish each moment. The NYE photo we take every year is seriously one of my favorites. We wear black and I use gold stickers. It is that easy.
