An Unforgettable Feast with Kingsford Charcoal

This season, we're all about celebrating fun, flavor, and ease by charcoal grilling with our family in the backyard. The weather is finally starting to cool off in the evenings and we love to take this opportunity to start grilling and eating outside together as a family.

Our family loves using Kingsford Original Charcoal because it gives our food the smoky wood-fired flavor that we all look for in BBQ.  Grilling isn't just for the summer though, Kingsford Original Charcoal is perfect for any grilling occasion. Whether we are cooking baby back ribs low and slow, searing vegetables on high heat, or simply char grilling seasonal sides, Kingsford Original Charcoal delivers the best in authentic BBQ flavor. It is so nice to gather everyone and spend time together in the backyard while we share about our day while we grill, catch up, and eat together as a family.

One of our favorite things to grill is Chicago Style Char Dogs. The best part about these is that they are incredibly easy to make, and the entire family loves them. I'm sure you and your family would enjoy this classic as well.! Plus, the signature char on these is one you can really only get through charcoal grilling.

These are also perfect for entertaining guests because adults and kids alike love these delicious dogs!

Ingredients:

4 all-beef hot dogs

4 hot dog buns

2 tablespoons yellow mustard

¼ cup bright green sweet pickle relish

½ small white onion, diced

2 small Roma tomatoes, cut into thin wedges

4 dill pickle spears

Wax peppers, celery salt, to taste

Instructions:

Build a charcoal fire for direct grilling using Kingsford Original Charcoal, and preheat to 400°F. Lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.  Butterfly hot dogs by slicing them lengthwise without cutting all the way through. Open gently so they lay flat on the grill.  Cook for about 2–3 minutes on each side, until charred in spots and hot throughout.  While the grill is heating and the hot dogs are cooking, grill the buns quickly over direct heat until lightly toasted, about 1 minute.  Place one hot dog in each bun, and top with a quarter of the mustard, relish, onions, tomatoes, and one pickle spear. Add wax peppers, to taste, and sprinkle with celery salt.

Charcoal grilling is a great way to gather your family and loved ones to bond and spend time together during Thanksgiving too! Although you probably wouldn't be serving up these Chicago Style Char Dogs on Thanksgiving, they are such great dish to serve during a get-together with family and friends during the fall season.
