Second Act In Theaters December 21

Last week I was invited to the press junket for the upcoming film Second Act, which stars Jennifer Lopez and Leah Remini. I also got to meet the director, Peter Segal. The movie will hit theaters everywhere on December 21, 2018. Thank you STXfilms for the invitation.

Second Act is a comedy in the vein of Working Girl and Maid In Manhattan. Jennifer Lopez stars as Maya, a 40-year-old woman struggling with frustrations from unfulfilled dreams.  That is, until she gets the chance to prove to Madison Avenue that street smarts are as valuable as book smarts, and that it is never too late for a Second Act. The movie is rated PG-13. It is a romantic comedy that will tickle your funny bone and warm your heart this holiday season. I really loved this movie. It empowers every woman to do more, be more, and not limit her dreams.

It was an honor to meet Jennifer Lopez and Leah Remini. I am such a huge fan of both of them. I have loved Leah Remini since Saved By The Bell and I seriously used to watch Jennifer Lopez on In Living Color. Just to be in the same room with them was amazing, but to talk to them, ask them questions and stand next to Jennifer Lopez for the group photo was something I will never forget.

I asked Jennifer what she responded to most about her character. Jennifer said, "I think for me, Maya again is just a person who can’t forgive herself for mistakes that she's made, and she continues beating herself up and I think we all have a tendency to do that. I definitely have a tendency to beat myself up when I felt like I could’ve done better, or I cheated myself in some way.  And that aspect of her character for me, you know, was very easy to kind of understand and play."

Leah answered next and she said "I loved that our friendship showed on screen between Maya and Joan."  Jennifer and Leah are best friends in real life and in the movie.  This was their first time ever working together.  This is also Leah's first big screen movie role.  She did have a small role in Old School.

I cannot believe I stood right next to Jennifer Lopez
